Mid Current Review: Mystic Tremor Salt Water 8-Weight

Mid Current Review: Mystic Tremor Salt Water 8-Weight

“Saltwater aficionados will appreciate the slightly over-sized line guides (both the gauge and diameter), but bear in mind that this is a light-weight rod built to handle more challenging small-to-mid-size permit, bonefish, jack, barracuda and snapper. My #8 even took a little unexpected abuse when I was caught off guard and unintentionally high-sticked a smallish jack. The rod survived, and I got a quick refresher on how not to handle a fly rod when fishing from a dock.

Rod designers and builders have been after the holy grail of rod dynamics for a long time: making that 4-piece feel and act like a one-piece. These days, several manufacturers have attained this goal, Mystic being one of them”

Mystic Waters Review M 693-4 M-Series Fly Rod

“With the mutual business name of Mystic, it seems like we might have a nice fit and I have been wanting to put one of these rods to the test.  My first impression of the rod on looks alone was very good.

Mystic M 693-4 fly rod seems to have something with the 9′ 3″ length”

“If you are looking for a powerhouse 6 wt fly rod without paying premium prices, the Mystic M-Series M693-4 is it. I would definitely give this rod a thumbs up”.

Gink and Gasonline Review of the Mystic 3WT Switch Rod

Gink and Gasonline Review of the Mystic 3WT Switch Rod

“The Mystic M-3113-4 is my Goldilocks rod. It’s just right. The quality of this rod struck me as soon as I took it out of the tube. It is very nicely finished and the reel seat hardware is nicer than what comes on some rods that cost twice what the Mystic does”.

“Fishing switch rods has put me on fish I was missing before. They have allowed me to reach water that was off limits, fish deep runs more effectively and manage drifts like never before. I even got Kent turned on to two handers, which he previously had little interest in. The results speak for themselves. Switch rods have definitely changed the way I fish for trout.”

Cutthroats Galore - Mystic 9'3 6 WT M Series Fly Rod Review

Cutthroats Galore - Mystic 9'3 6 WT M Series Fly Rod Review

“It is surprising to me that many people haven’t heard of Michigan based Mystic fly rods, as every one of their rods I have cast have been exceptional and have great value”.

“What the M Series 9’3″ good for: Trout between 14″-25″, can distance cast well, light saltwater use for sea run cutthroat and coho jacks, windy conditions, single hand spey casting, stripping flies, overall a forgiving and easy to cast, versatile trout rod.

I wouldn’t recommend: Larger coho and other salmon, summer steelhead, while it could handle smaller specimens no problem, I think a ten pound coho or summer would have it’s way with this rod.”
